Our next Day-in-Topeka and Board of Adult Care Home Administrators (BACHA) Board meeting is scheduled for Friday, December 8, 2017. We will meet at Rasmussen College, 620 Governor View, Topeka, KS 9:00 am until 3 pm.
As of January 22, 2015 new AITs will be required to participate in at least one "Day-In-Topeka" session. These sessions coincide with the BACHA meetings and participants have the opportunity to observe BACHA proceedings as well as receive an introduction to a number of agency and association partners in the adult care field.
Our Day begins with "Infomercials" by as many of the Long-Term Care Network who are available. Some of these people/organizations include KDADS, Kansas Long-Term Care Obudsman Office, LeadingAge Kansas, Kansas Health Care Association [KHCA/kcal], State Surveyors. This also gives you an opportunity to meet other AITs face-to-face and "compare notes."
Our agenda includes Lunch on KACE. After lunch we return to Rasmussen College to observe a meeting of the BACHA Board [Board of Adult Care Home Administrators] This group is the regulatory Board for all administrators & always has some interesting topics to discuss.
If an administrator has been the subject of a formal complaint, a sub-committee of the BACHA Board called the Complaint Investigatory Committee will meet & conduct a hearing regarding the allegations, right before we adjourn for lunch. While this is an unfortunate situation, if it happens, it is a good experience for future administrators to be familiar with this process.
Our Day begins at 9 AM & we will adjourn no later than 3 PM. Your Preceptor is Welcome to join you in this valuable day's experience.
