OVERVIEW OF SYMPOSIUM TOPICS
CMS Hand in Hand Training Initiative
CMS developed and released to all nursing homes at the end of 2012 the Hand in Hand Toolkit of six training sessions for staff to learn person-centered ways of interacting with residents with Dementia. Hear from CMS executive producer, Karen Schoeneman, what this training tool is all about and how you can support your staff by empowering them to use skills such as: the right body language, voice tone, team tag-out, interrupting “elopement” attempts before they begin, enlisting family members as part of the team, and other strategies contained in these lessons. This session will include Hand in Hand video clips of care interactions followed by audience discussions and sharing.
