    Dear Valued Vendor:

We are very excited to welcome back our vendor partners and our adult care executive colleagues to another in-person convention and would like to extend an invitation to you and your company/organization to be part of our 50th Annual Convention. KACE values our vendors. We know it is the Vendors who help make our convention a great success. We could not do it without you. Thank you, in advance, for being a part of our 50th Annual Convention. KACE is encouraging Convention Sponsorships this year. We hope your company/ organization will consider being a sponsor in whatever way you can. We greatly appreciate your help in this area. Sponsorships will be recognized in the program booklet and at the Convention.

To reach the maximum number of attendees we will host the in-person conference as well as offer a virtual option for conferees that are unable to attend in person. As was our experience last year, we expect most of our conferees are ready and eager to see each other and to speak with you in person, but the virtual option provides an opportunity for additional people to learn about your products and services.  We look forward to seeing you again in Wichita, KS at the Wichita Marriott and again would like to thank you for your support of Kansas Adult Care Executives.

Social Reintegration Anxiety in Residents Belinda Vierthaler 1.0 Resident Care CEs

Through the pandemic, we have been told to social distance.  Because of the social distancing and isolation, people, including residents and team members, have become accustomed to social isolation.  Now that COVID numbers are going down and the vaccine has brought the hope of returning to some normalcy, we are finding that it is more difficult than we anticipated.  Re-integration anxiety is the fear of coming back together after being segregated. From a mental health standpoint, being expected to join group activities and dining is anxiety provoking.  Add to it the idea that you don’t know who is vaccinated and who is not, and you have a recipe for social anxiety disorders.  This presentation will discuss what anxiety is and ways to overcome it.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Define anxiety and how it impacts us.
    • Identify non-pharmacological ways to treat anxiety.
    • Demonstrate ways to overcome re-integration anxiety.

Psychological Safety: Building a Strong and Engaged Workforce Brenda Groves, KFMC 1.5 Admin CEs

The last year has been mentally, physically, and emotionally challenging.  However, we cannot diminish what has been achieved within each organization to keep residents and staff safe. Innovation in resident care, teamwork, and processes improvement has been born out of the urgency presented by COVID. As organizations grow and recover from COVID 19, it is critical to support staff to feel safe and supported in their roles. This work is for all clinical and operational staff—from dietary and housekeeping, to physicians and administrators. In this session, we will explore tools and processes to support staff wellbeing and to build a trauma-informed culture.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Recognize the value of an engaged workforce
    • Identify key leadership strategies that drive engagement
    • Review assessment and measurement strategies

    Day In Topeka

    September 9, 2022

Virtual (via Zoom) 9:00 to 3:00

Our next Day-in-Topeka and Board of Adult Care Home Administrators (BACHA) Board meeting is scheduled for Friday, September 9, 2022. This will be a virtual event from 9 am until 3 pm.

As of January 22, 2015 new AITs will be required to participate in at least one "Day-In-Topeka" session. These sessions coincide with the BACHA meetings and participants have the opportunity to observe BACHA proceedings as well as receive an introduction to a number of agency and association partners in the adult care field.

Our Day begins with "Infomercials" by as many of the Long-Term Care Network who are available. Some of these people/organizations include KDADS, Kansas Long-Term Care Ombudsman Office, LeadingAge Kansas, Office of the State Fire Marshal, and KDADS.

Our agenda includes a break for lunch from 12-1. After lunch we will observe a meeting of the BACHA Board [Board of Adult Care Home Administrators] This group is the regulatory Board for all administrators & always has some interesting topics to discuss.

If an administrator has been the subject of a formal complaint, a sub-committee of the BACHA Board called the Complaint Investigatory Committee will meet & conduct a hearing regarding the allegations, right before we adjourn for lunch. While this is an unfortunate situation, if it happens, it is a good experience for future administrators to be familiar with this process.

Our day begins at 9 AM, and we will adjourn no later than 3 PM. Your preceptor is welcome to join you in this valuable day's experience.
